Surf Experiment #1
Non-traditional Materials
Can I use a laser cutter to build a surfboard?  I suddenly found myself working in a shop with a laser cutter at my disposal and I had to find out.  This work is heavily inspired by artist Michael Sheldrake.  His amazing work uses cardboard, which has a flute direction.  To maximize space on each sheet, I used foam-core.
The Results
The end result is a decent board with a flat bottom, a lumpy top and surprisingly consistent rails.  The main take-away is repeat-ability.  As long as I have 13 sheets of foam-core, I can make a repeatable surfboard blank.
