Ignite Grills
Ignite Grills wanted to bring charcoal BBQ-ing to the weekday and casual grilling market. They discovered that consumers tended to shy away from charcoal because of its many complications with ignition, its time commitment and its difficulty with temperature control. The vast majority of the BBQ market had migrated to easier-to-use gas grills and were missing out on the amazing flavor potential that charcoal provides.
Working with the team at Ignite, we set out to create a smarter charcoal grill. Much of the focus was put into the push-button ignition system that works with proprietary cartridges of charcoal. We wanted to make temperature control extremely easy, intuitive and exact, so we designed an interface that displayed only things a griller would care about in the heat of the moment. The grill uses a series of fans and ducts to let in cooler air or stoke the flames in order to accurately raise and lower the temperature in different zones. Ignite hopes that this cooker can live up to the standards of the seasoned pit-master but also elevate the skills of the novice BBQ owner.
This project was a collaboration with my great team at Bolt.
